The old tenants just moved out. Good times though, you have 4 people coming to view the house. Yippee. It will be rented within in the hour!
Parking on the kerb you see that prospective tenants are already there waiting for you. Oh heck, recycling was picked up on the street today. It blew a gale all day. The front yard and garden are covered in wind-blown rubbish. We have aced the first impression, not.
As you stub you foot on a rock, you notice that the external sensor lights aren't working. Got your phone light out to put the keys in the door. Muttering a bit now, bit of a shaky shivery hand, but still smiling with the prospective tenants. "Nearly in". Everyone looking a bit cold now, and wearing that fake, “no problem, take your time” smile, as their cheeks are slowly seizing with the cold wind.
Eureka, you are in. Feeling along the hallway wall for the light switches. Click. Nothing. Click, click click. Nothing. Power has been cut off. Grrrrrrrrrr. Crap comes in threes doesn't it. Should have put the power into your name 2 weeks ago.
Now everyone has their phones out, fumbling for their own light. Lots of friendly words from the visitors, “not to worry, it’ll be fine, we can see most of the house with our phone lights”
Its seems warmer in the master bedroom, you say, with a chuckle, rubbing your hands together to keep warm, not directed at anyone in particular, but just to keep everyone’s spirits up.
Neighbours have power on next door, hmmm, looks warm inside, seems like they have finished dinner, watching the tail end of the news.
The house is quite now; the prospective tenants have gone now. All very polite and said good bye, “but will think about it” . Might be more for them to think about if we weren’t all freezing and in the dark.
The silence is broken by the phone, vibrating on the bench. “ Hello, Yes, the house, it’s still available, I can show you though at the weekend, just reconnecting the power”
The secrets, out :- ) Be prepared and its all plain siling, no mater what the season.
Have a great weekend.
